HEALING VOICES: Each year New Jersey caregivers are invited to submit all forms of creative writing, including prose, poetry, and theatrical pieces that reflect the theme of caregiving or the personal healing experience. Selected pieces are woven together into an evening of readings celebrating, exploring, and bearing witness to the caregiving experience.

OUR CANCER STORIES: RESILIENCE IN WORDS
compiled and directed by Jaimee Harmon-Taboni
a collaboration between McCarter Theatre Center and Crossroads4Hope
OUR CANCER STORIES is a collaborative event in which those with cancer, cancer survivors, caregivers, and loved ones submit pieces about their experiences. These stories are crafted into a script which is performed as a staged reading with an accompanying talkback led by a licensed social work manager. This program embraces the healing effects of storytelling by encouraging those experiencing the effects of cancer to reflect on their individual experiences and to connect with others living similar stories, reminding them that they are not alone.
“You have a wonderful ability to recognize that even though there is so little time to rehearse, we can still develop an increased understanding of the script and take “just a staged reading” to a more nuanced performance. Thank you!”
